Cultural Events Happening in August
August is a busy month throughout Santa Fe with plenty of great events to enjoy. There are several unique options to choose from. Here’s a look at just a few of the top events coming to the city for August.
August 5-6 | Girls Inc. Arts and Crafts Show
Held on August 5th and 6th, the Girls Inc. Arts and Craft Show provides a great choice for those looking to buy arts and crafts items. It’s a huge events held on the Santa Fe Plaza every year. You’ll find all kinds of art here including pottery, sculpture, wood work, photography, metal work, fiber art, jewelry and so much more. There will also be plenty of specialty food vendors on site.
August 11-14 | Whitehawk Antique Indian & Ethnographic Art Show
For 39 years, the Whitehawk Antique Indian & Ethnographic Art Show has been a tradition in Santa Fe. This show provides some of the finest art and antiques in the area. It has been called; “the granddaddy of them all” by Maine Antique Digest’s, Alice Kaufman and it’s exactly that. The show will take place on August 11th through 14th.
August 19-20 | Santa Fe Indian Market
If you love tribal art, this is the place for you. The Santa Fe Indian Market is one of the most prestigious intertribal fine art markets in the entire world and one of the largest events in Santa Fe held every year. It’s a two-day festival market held on the Santa Fe Plaza with more than 1,000 native artists and designers on hand. This year, it will be held on August 19th and 20th and will host plenty of Indian artists from all over the country. Many other events will be happening around the Indian Market, as well, so make sure you pay attention to the local calendars.
August 17-19 | We Are The Seeds
Another art event with about 100 artists from all different regions and cultures, We Are The Seeds is an event honoring women artists. Along with the art, this event will include plenty of great entertainment on the stage with Jennifer Kreisberg, Brian Frejo, Smokestack Lighting and R&B performer Honey. It’s a three-day event running from August 17th to 19th with high-quality art on display, plenty of music and so much more.
