Top Free Places to Enjoy in Santa Fe

Not everything has to break the bank when you want to have a little bit of fun. Whether going out with friends or enjoying a day with family, there are plenty of things to do in Santa Fe for free. Here are some of the top places you can enjoy without paying a dime.
Cross of The Martyrs Park
One of the top places in the area for sunsets, Cross of the Martyrs Park is found on a hill in the historic Eastside area of the city. It’s one of the best places for sunsets. The park is also close to Prince Park, which was once the home of Fort Marcy. The fort dates back to 1846. The Cross at the park is a monument to the 21 Franciscan Fathers killed here in 1680.
Canyon Road Art District
With plenty of great art found throughout the Canyon Road Art District, you don’t have to spend any money to browse. You can stroll the area and check out the many galleries free of charge. Many of the art houses provide beautiful collections of art and on Fridays, you can enjoy openings from 5pm to 7pm.
Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi
The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi provides plenty of history and traditions from the Catholic Church. It’s mixed with New Mexican design and provides incredible architecture. The building itself is a work of art and the Stations of the Cross inside are amazing, as well.
Santa Fe Bandstand
With plenty of music at the historic Santa Fe Plaza, you can enjoy all kinds of tunes without paying a dime at the Santa Fe Bandstand. About 70 free concerts are held here throughout the summer with just about every night of the week filled with music. National and local bands take the stages and provide a number of different types of music. Arrive by 5:30pm and you can get a spot with your folding chair for the show, which starts at 6pm.
Santa Fe Railyard
A very trendy area, the Santa Fe Railyard is a great place to enjoy free of charge. It’s home to a farmers market on Saturdays and Tuesdays, along with plenty of art exhibits. This is a very popular spot for many different things to happen and most are free of charge.
